Are you ready for some football???? I am! I know the Baltimore Ravens are not playing but I am still up for watching a good game, seeing some crazy fun commercials and eating way too much yummy food. I was looking around for some game day recipes and I came across the Tabasco Pizza Perfected page and saw some really good ideas for pizza. Of course, everyone uses Tabasco sauce to add flavor to lots of things, but pizza? I never thought about it...until today that is.
If you are anything like me, you will not be sitting still for the entire game. I move around a lot while watching the game and I am always chasing after a three year old so I need to make sure the food I make is fairly portable. Pizza is perfect for the game. It is more than a snack, does not require utensils, and I can eat it while in motion.
Here are a few pizza recipes you can try.
Spicy Margherita Pizza Recipe
It is a game day version of my normal margherita pizza recipe that we make all the time.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup of water
1 tbs oil
1 tbs sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tbs dry milk
2 1/4 cups bread flour
1 tsp active dry yeast
spray cooking oil
1 tbs olive oil
course salt
fresh ground black pepper
1 can of diced tomatoes (14.5 oz.), drained
1/4 cup of your favorite tomato pasta sauce
1/4 cup of TABASCO® Original Red sauce
8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1/4 chopped fresh basil
1 tsp corn meal
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Place the first 7 ingredients in your bread machine and select the pizza dough cycle (yep, that easy). When the cycle ends, remove from the machine and place dough into a very lightly sprayed large bowl. Cover and let rise for another hour or two.
- Flour work area and roll out the pizza dough to fit your pizza pan (or cookie sheet).
- Sprinkle pan with corn meal and place pizza crust dough in the pan.
- Approximately every 2 inches, poke the dough with a fork and then drizzle with olive oil and brush to coat. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Bake for 5 minutes and remove from oven.
- Mix tomato and TABASCO® Original Red sauces in a small bowl.
- Cover the pizza crust with Tabasco sauce mix, diced tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.
- Return to oven and bake for approximately 10 - 15 minutes. The cheese will be bubbly and starting to brown.
- Sprinkle with fresh basil, cut and serve.
Here is another recipe. It is a different take on the traditional buffalo chicken dip that we all love but now you can have it on a pizza.
