Yippy for me! I finished Ellie's "all the colors" scarf that was inspired by Lily the Cow from the book Once Upon a Holiday by Randy Schliep. Ellie got this book and the matching stuffed Lily Cow last year for Christmas from her Aunt Theresa and she has loved them both ever since. Last spring I decided to make her the scarf and I just never got around to finishing it until now. I think it turned out really cute and more importantly, she loves it.
If you want to make one like it, I used Lamb's Pride worsted weight wool. Cast on 22 stitches and work in a rib stitch (k1p1) back and forth. I changed colors after 14 rows until it was long enough to go around her neck and have plenty left to keep wrapping her up warm and tight. Oh, and I had to end it in the same color that I started - orange. Bind off. Weave in the ends. It's really basic. Someone that has never picked up needles could do it easily. Now Ellie just needs to make up her mind if she wants fringe or not.
Now, on to the matching hat until she makes up her mind.
