Happy (early) New Year!
Here are two great drink recipes you could make for tonight or tomorrow if you are having people over. My mother always made the whiskey or bourbon slush every New Years. She omitted the alcohol in a small batch so the kids could have a special drink too. Since I have 2 little ones and pregnant friend that are going to be here tonight, I did a non-alcohol version too. The sangria recipe is one from my friend Jeanne. There is not much to say about this recipe other than it is PERFECT every time. It tastes like Kool-Aid to me. Love it!
I hope you enjoy these two recipes.
12 oz. frozen lemonade concentrate
6 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate
3/4 c. sugar
6 c. water (updated quantity)
2 c. whiskey or bourbon (or to your taste, I do the 2 cups, my mom adds an additional glug-glug)
1 c. brewed black tea
Mix it all together in a large bowl, cover and freeze. Super easy and so yummy.
When you are ready to eat/drink, just scoop some into a fancy-shmancy glass and serve with a little spoon.
1 bottle red wine
1 Liter fresca + a little more
3-4 oz. triple sec
juice of one lime
1-2 firm apples, diced
1-2 oranges, halved and sliced
2 lemons, halved and sliced
Mix wine, soda, triple sec and lime juice. Add apples, oranges and lemons. Allow to sit for several hours and serve. Yum. Like I said, Kool-aid but for adults.
